#p/g! Invades
|
| Once again, the end of the year came upon us, and once again it was time
for the migratory p/g troupe to gather at the residence of some poor willing soul actually
stupid enough to host a gathering. Our usual haunt (Pittsburgh) was on the iffy
side, due to some unscheduled labor and school requirements of the usual host, John
(Slythex) Santore. So, we decided it would be fun to have to drive even farther and
pester poor Glen (Ruthven/Letterman/greed/...) Reed ... (okay, so the truth of the matter
is Glen was too damn lazy to drive anywhere, so we all gave in). The members appearing at ths year's shindig were (in order of appearance, I think):
1 denotes "Long Distance" award.. the
bastard flew in from San Diego
So, what did we do this time? Well, as usual, it was the continual Quest for Something To Do (besides sampling Glen's frightening homemade mead). We managed to get into Denny's for a joyous meal where Geddy (okay, just Josh) was kind enough to grace us with his presence, but for a brief moment. From there, we drove around some of downtown Philadelphia... and around... and around... then to the Franklin Science Center for a viewing of Africa: the Serengeti in omni-vision ("Luke... look out for that lion..."). After that we went to Pan's to wolf some 'za, then off to see Toy Story. From there, it all fell apart. We went back to Glen's only to endure The Great Toilet Incident, which resulted in water all over the bathroom floor, but none coming from the faucets (thanks, Ron!). Half of us wimped out and slept at Panacea's where the water flowed freely... at least after the rental cars were jumpstarted. The hearty (and those who became ill) braved the lack of running water in the potty and stayed at Glen's. What more can be said, but at least nobody got hurt. There is a frighteningly small collection of pictures from this event. I guess everyone wanted to forget about it. Come on, Dave, at least you can get us a .mov file of The Great Toilet Incident! Ruthven's PicturesRuthven's annoying personal note ... I'd just like to extend a laurel, and hearty handshake, to the #p/g! folks for putting up with my annoying idiosyncrasies for almost an entire weekend. And if any of you feel like dropping back into the "home of tax-free shopping," my floor is always open (and really, the place is much more accommodating since I got furniture, had the cable hooked up, stocked the bar, had the kitchen redone, fixed the blinds so they're no longer falling down, got the plumbing fixed, and stocked the bar). |
